The Spanish Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will appear this Wednesday in the list of participants in the initiative ‘Tennis plays for peace’, launched by United States Tennis Association (USTA) to support Ukraine, which is planning an exhibition on August 24 in New York, the Saturday of the start of the qualifying phase of the US Open.
The USTA and United States Open confirmed a list of participants in which, in addition to Nadal and Alcaraz, the Americans will be Coco Gauff, John McEnroe and the polish Iga Swiatekfor an event aimed at raising funds to support the Ukrainian people.
The exhibition is scheduled for August 24, Independence Day of Ukraine, at the track Louis Armstrong of New Yorkwith a series of singles and doubles matches.
The ‘TicketMaster’ platform will put tickets on sale for 25 and 50 dollars, and one hundred percent of the money collected will be sent to a support fund for Ukraine at this stage of the crisis.
In particular, the money will serve to support communities most affected by the war and in areas where refugees have gathered, USTA reported.
Donations will also be collected during the US Open, scheduled from August 29 to September 11, and the USTA’s goal is to reach two million dollars.
