Krankl maintained his innocence after being arrested by the police

The legendary former FC Barcelona player and Austrian football legend Hans Krankl temporarily detained on Sunday by the police in the town of passingin the region of Upper Austria, for allegedly endangering a police officer as he left the car park of the local stadium.

This was reported this Monday by public television ORF, confirming part of a Viennese newspaper report ‘Kronenzeitung’, who speaks of running into an agent by Kranklsomething he vehemently denied.

The incident occurred at 18:00 GMT yesterday, when Krankl69, was leaving the parking lot of the Raiffeisen Arena Pashing stadium, after witnessing there, and commentating for the private broadcaster Sky, the Austrian Bundesliga match between LASK Linz and Rapid Vienna (2:1).

According to police sources who told the local agency APA, the former coach of the Austrian national team drove his car into a police officer in the VIP parking lot of the stadium. LASK and stopped him when there was a little physical contact between the agent and the car’s bumper.

“He then rolled the vehicle toward two other police officers and stopped there only after another contact,” the police report said, quoted by APA.

“Kronenzeitung” claims to have had access to eyewitnesses who described “unbelievable scenes” starring the Austrian soccer icon, and even one allegedly run over by a police officer.

The police allowed him to leave shortly after, after taking his data, although they opened an investigation into what happened which is still ongoing.

According to the newspaper, Krankl he admitted to being very embarrassed: “I am a friend of the police, I have even given benefit concerts for them and I have played football with policemen,” he recalled.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I would never put a police officer in harm’s way. (It’s) a stupid story that makes me sad,” he said. Kranklaccording to the Kronenzeitung.
