Ford presents the new Mustang, more fun to drive and more digital

Date:

Handling has been improved by reducing the distance between the handlebars and the tires, while a faster steering ratio improves the cornering dynamics of the new model.

Ford has introduced the all-new Mustang, transforming the world’s best-selling sports coupe with a completely redesigned digital instrument panel, an advanced new V8 engine and more sophisticated styling to make it the most fun-to-drive Mustang ever. This is how the new coupé and convertible carry the athletic character of Mustang
to new heightsincluding hardware, software and tuning improvements, plus a new Gen IV 5.0-liter V8 engine that offers even more responsiveness and performance.

The new Mustang GT features a new air intake system with a dual air intake and a dual throttle body, which minimizes induction losses and allows higher flows.
Up to six riding modes customizable interactive settings optimize performance in different driving conditions: normal, sport, slide, tow, track and a customizable setting with multiple available profiles, tailored to the individual driver preferences.

Handling has been improved by reducing the distance between the handlebars and the tires, while a faster steering ratio improves the cornering dynamics of the new model. Rev matching (heel toe), which maintains engine speed when the clutch is engaged to maintain maximum torque between manual gear changes, is standard on the GT, making the Mustang even more accurate and more capable for the track.

The GT is available with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. The standard Performance Package includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a limited-slip sports differential for increased traction, 19-inch Brembo brakes and an active exhaust valve that adapts the engine sound to the driving scenario. The optional active suspension MagneRide 3 monitors conditions a thousand times per second and uses an electronically controlled fluid to adapt damping resistance to road conditions.

The low, horizontal front of the distinctive three-piece bonnet complements the new LED headlights to create a more striking appearance, influenced by the original design from the 1960s and optimized for pedestrian protection. Its sleek roofline, wide stance and shortened rear overhang are also true to the proportions typical of the first-generation Mustang, while the flared rear hips hint Mustang-style power to the wheels.

For the first time, each model in the new Mustang range features its own unique front end, allowing customers to choose the look that best suits their personality. The GT, the heart of the Mustang brand, features larger grille openings designed to allow for more airflow, resulting in more power and performance. The car’s aerodynamics have been optimized with the addition of new hood vents and a redesigned front splitter.

At the rear, an enlarged rear wing module houses the signature new three-bar lighting and a redesigned diffuser to improve aerodynamic balance.

Behind the iconic seventh-generation Mustang exterior silhouette is the most technologically advanced, driver-focused digital dashboard of any Mustang to date, combining the best of the past, present and future. Most notable is the removal of the Mustang’s traditional upper fascia, giving way to a fluid, glass-encased, open center section packed with technology.

Behind the new, thicker, flat-bottomed steering wheel is a 12.4-inch digital instrument panel, which can be customized to display different layouts, and new customizable, drive-mode-dependent dashboards that are new to the new model.

This digital instrument panel flows seamlessly into a central 13.2-inch SYNC 4 area behind the same integrated piece of glass, angled towards the driver. The ergonomic placement of these displays provides clear visual information and easily accessible controls, working together to create an immersive digital experience. The fully customizable Mustang cab clusters and interior ambience start in copper and dark colors, in a theme similar to the Mustang Mach-E, and are fully user-configurable. Dashboard gauges and interior mood lighting can be set to customer-selected tones, while the instrument clusters adapt to the selected driving mode. When choosing custom driving mode settings, a visualization of the car’s configuration is displayed in the center console using Unreal Engine 3D software, a computer game engine that produces real-time displays. By interacting with the touchscreen, vehicle settings can be adjusted by swiping the image to virtually rotate the car.
