The first 100% electric of the brand presents the e-Boost package, with 170 kW and 231 CV

The CUPRA Born is reborn with more power and more autonomy. The brand’s first 100% electric car aims to break with the idea that it is a city-only car, demonstrating that it can be a travel companion outside the urban circuit.

And for that, just a few months after the presentation of the model, the brand has launched three new e-Boost versions and a “Battery Pack” version, which includes the battery with a net capacity of 77 kWh, an autonomy of up to 549 km and 170 kW (231 hp) peak power. Now it is also offered with five approved seats.

This option is added to the previously available versions of the model: the Born 150 kW (204 hp) with a 58 kWh battery and the Born e-Boost Pack with the same 58 kWh and 170 kW (231 hp) battery. The latter is the best performing version and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.

With the disruptive attitude, adventurous mentality and rebellious spirit that characterize the brand, the new CUPRA Born shows that sportiness and electrification go hand in hand, bringing emotional driving to the electric vehicle segment. In this new version, the vehicle comes standard with Plug & Charge technology for smoother battery charging, for which it has the support of companies such as IONITY and Aral/bp.

With a charging point of 135 kW, it is even possible to add 100 kilometers of extra autonomy in just 7 minutes, making traveling as easy as in a car with a combustion engine. Another pertinent fact is that with the battery at 5%, 30 minutes is enough to reach 80%.

In addition to the advanced drive system it has that provides instant acceleration, the Born chassis promotes a dynamic and exciting response in any driving scenario, with performance favored by the progressive steering and ESC Sport.

The e-Boost versions -both with a capacity of 58 and 77 kWh &mdash battery, also have oversized 340x27mm front disc brakes as standard, as well as the exclusive CUPRA mode under the standard ‘CUPRA Drive Profile’ driving modes, which maximizes power. delivers and matches the Range, comfort, performance and individual.

Likewise, the CUPRA Born can include the optional Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC), which can provide varying levels of damper firmness. As an option, and exclusively on the e-Boost versions, the 51 cm (20”) Firestorm alloy wheels can be ordered, which are fitted with the wider &mdash235x40mm&mdash Michelin Pilot Sport EV sport tires, and which also include the Control Adaptive Chassis (DCC).

The Born benefits from the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, which in this case offers a distinctive set-up with the DCC system, as the ground clearance is 15mm lower on the front axle and 10mm lower on the rear. the platform standard. It includes a multi-link rear axle and rear-wheel drive as standard in all its versions, with a balanced weight distribution that allows a more dynamic output.

El Born is the first vehicle to respond to a net neutral CO2 concept in its production, thanks to the use of renewable energy sources in the supply chain.

Inside, the CUPRA Born includes sustainable materials, such as the standard Bucket sports seats, whose upholstery is made from recycled marine plastics, thanks to the Sequal initiative, as well as the optional seats with Dinámica fabric, also made with vegan materials. The same trim is standard in the door trim, front armrest and inside of the roof. This ecological touch does not lose the sense of sportiness, refinement and quality. In addition, the e-Boost versions have the heated steering wheel with built-in satellite buttons.

All this is combined with connectivity, with an infotainment system showing that the CUPRA Born is ready for modern life. It always comes standard with a 30.5 cm (12”) screen, the 13.4 cm (5.3”) Digital Cockpit dashboard, the innovative Head-Up Display with augmented reality on the windscreen, the wireless Full Link with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, or the ‘online’ services.

The latter offer a range of on-board and remote functionalities, via the ‘My CUPRA’ mobile device app, which even allows control of the vehicle’s battery charge or the climate control.

On the outside, the design shows its strong personality thanks to its proportions &mdash4.32m long, 1.8m wide and 1.54m high, with a wheelbase of 2.76m&mdash, and the characteristic light signature with Full LED technology from series, with infinite rear light , and to the aerodynamic elements, among other details, such as the copper colored inserts.

It is available in six body colours: Vapor Grey, Nevada White, Geyser Silver, Rayleigh Red, Quasar Gray and the exclusive Lava Blue.

Orders for the new CUPRA Born can now be placed, with deliveries from the end of this year. The price starts at 40,900 euros for the 150 kW (204 hp) 58 kWh and 5 seats, rising to 45,620 for the top-class 170 kW (231 hp) 77 kWh e-Boost Pack & Battery Pack, also with five seats.
