The UMILES Next air taxi, Concept Integrity, equipped with the FlyFree technology developed by the TECNALIA research center, has successfully flown over the skies of Toulouse, Onera Test Field, within the
flying demonstrations Very large scale demonstrations of the TindAIR project -Tactical INstrumental Deconfliction And In-flight Resolution-.
This fact represents a major step for the integration of this type of aircraft in the airspace within
European project TindAirwhich aims to validate the urban air traffic management of the future with unmanned aerial vehicles (U-space) and for this purpose other UAVs (Unmanned Vehicles) have flown together with the air taxi in different layers to demonstrate that the uptake of this new “traffic” in urban areas is possible in the near future.
During the flight campaign, UMILES Next was able to test automatic flight control and autonomous landing and take-off on its eVTOL (electric and vertical take-off and landing) aircraft, enabling
integrate the air taxi within the U-space.
The mobility of the future must become increasingly intelligent and sustainable. The new systems and developments will provide alternative transport solutions in increasingly crowded cities. UMILES Next and TECNALIA have set their sights on this with their air and land mobility solutions expected to
a real alternative around 2028.
The Concept Integrity prototype is the evolution of the first version presented in 2019, more evolved and dimensioned, able to move autonomously through cities,
designed to carry one person and bridge urban distances of 15 km in 15 minutes.
In order for this type of autonomous aircraft to obtain the necessary certifications to operate, they must be piloted for the time being. That’s why UMILES Next is working on the design of
his piloted aircraft, Integritybased on the patented FlyFree technology, which it aims to have in the air for years to come.
