Opel invites young designers to create their concept car with the Rocks-e

The company is launching a design competition for students up to the age of 27 and will build a vehicle based on the winning car

Opel plans to build a special and unique unit of its 100% electric Rocks-e Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) vehicle. The innovative Rocks-e is
an emission-free four-wheeler which can be driven in Germany from the age of 15, and now Opel is inviting young people from all over the world to design a Rocks-e concept.

The Rocks-e ‘Design Hack’, conceived by Opel, is a social media competition for young creative talents to design a unique concept based on the two-seat light motor vehicle. The competition is open to non-professional design students
between 18 and 27 years old. Entrants can submit their craziest, coolest or simply cutting edge creations to opeldesignhack.com. Opel will even build the winning design next year.

The Opel Rocks-e is the German company’s first SUM (Sustainable Urban Mobility) model. This all-electric, zero-emission two-seater and
only 2.41 meters long can be driven by young people from 15 years of age with an AM driver’s license (valid for light four-wheel motor vehicles with a continuous rated power of not more than 6 kW, with not more than two seats and a maximum speed of 45 km/h).

Opel’s entry-level electric mobility model offers a range of up to 75 kilometers (in accordance with WLTP regulations), with a speed of up to 45 km/h. This is according to Opel
makes it ideal for everyday trafficor in the city, and not only for young drivers, but also for those who want to travel emission-free and without spending a lot of time looking for a parking space when they arrive at their destination.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Rocks-e offers up to 63 liters of luggage space in the passenger compartment, plus a clever hook for an XXL shopping bag.

The 5.5 kWh battery in the Opel Rocks-e is
can be fully charged in about 3.5 hours into any conventional household outlet. In addition, the brand offers an adapter for public charging points.
