This is the help of 7,000 euros to buy a car that you can apply for until 2023

Date:

You have until 31 December next year to apply for the Plan Bewegen III subsidy for electric or hybrid vehicles

If you are thinking about changing your car and scrapping your previous vehicle, you should take into account that there is government support up to 7,000 euros that can be applied for until 2023. Although you should bear in mind that this subsidy is not valid for the purchase of second-hand vehicles as they must be new. The Moves III plan was approved in 2021 and its term ends on December 31 of the following year.

The Efficient and Sustainable Mobility Incentive Program (Moves III) finances the purchase of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles and the construction of charging infrastructures with direct support for private individuals, the self-employed and companies. The aim is to promote the switch to more sustainable vehicles with less impact on the environment. An aspect that will become more relevant next year with the launch of the Low Emission Zones plan. This project, which will be implemented in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, will restrict access to the most polluting vehicles and positively discriminate against electric and hybrid options through environmental badges.

However, these vehicles that run on electricity are more expensive than those that run on petrol and require a larger investment. Therefore, if you decide to change, you can count on the help of the Moves III Plan.

It should be noted that if they have a range of more than 90 kilometers, both 100% electric and hybrid will start from the same amount. However, this changes when the hybrid has driven between 30 and 90 kilometers, as the amount received is reduced to 5,000 or 2,500 euros.

This aid mainly benefits persons with vehicles older than 7 years. Here are the aid amounts if the previous vehicle is scrapped to buy a new vehicle:

– Passenger cars: 7,000 euros

– Vans: 9,000 euros

– Electric motorcycles: 1,300 euros

If it’s your first vehicle, you’ll also have access to the Moves III plan’s help:

– Passenger cars: 4,500 euros

– Vans: 7,000 euros

– Electric motorcycles: 1,100 euros

If you are going to ask for help, you must meet a number of requirements:

– The car you buy must be new and electric or hybrid. It can also be a demo that dealers use to teach the public, as long as it’s registered nine months before April 10, 2021.

– The subsidy is granted on the purchase of the following vehicles: passenger cars and vans with a range of at least 30 kilometers, fully electric motorcycles and four-wheelers, fuel cells with a range of 70 kilometers or plug-in hybrids.

– The price of the car excluding taxes cannot exceed EUR 45,000 and, in the case of motorcycles, EUR 10,000.

You should know that this subsidy must be declared to the Treasury, just like those who receive the Minimum Vital Income (IMV). This kind of support must be registered with the tax authorities, as they are considered capital gains. In the case of the Moves Plan aid, it must be declared in the profit and loss account as an increase in assets, amounts between 400 and 1,000 euros being exempt.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) explains that the application is handled through the dealer where you buy the vehicle. In this case, it is a tool that every autonomous community must manage. It will therefore be responsible for the allocation and income of the aid.

The form provided by the dealer must be accompanied by a series of documents for validation and subsequent approval:

– Photocopy of the DNI or NIE

– The self-employed must also submit proof of registration in the Census of Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Retainers or the Certificate of Census Situation issued by the National Tax Agency.

– Companies must issue a responsible statement in which the condition Small, Medium or Large Company appears.
