How to save on gas on this Constitution bridge

Date:

Due to the rise in fuel prices in 2022, many solutions have emerged to find the cheapest pumps

While fuel prices are not at the all-time highs reached before the summer, they are still high enough to consider looking for the cheapest pumps. With 13.5 million trips planned for the long weekend in December, it is useful to find the petrol stations with the cheapest prices to save as much as possible on our car journeys.

In addition to the gas station geoportal, where we can find the official rates for all of Spain, we can also use Google Maps, one of the most popular navigation systems, to carry out the search when we are on the road.

The procedure to use is very simple. From the “smartphone” you just need to open the Google Maps application.

At the top, just below the search bar, the user will find several icons, including one with ‘Gas stations’. If you ‘click’ on it, the locations of the stations closest to your situation will appear on the screen.

The internet user also sees how information about the various petrol stations is displayed at the bottom of the screen. You just have to click on it to see the prices of the fuels they sell. In addition, the user can check here what the parking times are, the times when it is busiest or the opinion of other users.

The app and functionality is available for all devices. Both iPhones with iOS operating system and Google Android.

Without having to download an app on our mobile phone, the CasaCocheCurro.com petrol price comparator allows us to consult the search engine of the nearest petrol station. It only takes a few seconds and once the question is asked with your phone’s location activated, it will open a list of the gas stations closest to your location.

This information includes the opening hours of nearby petrol stations to ensure they are open and it is possible to refuel. And in the list you can see what the fuel prices are at the nearby gas stations and the distance you have to travel to get there. As simple as choosing the type of fuel your car needs and selecting a gas station, it will open Google Maps on your phone to receive directions on how to get there.

And since the nearest petrol station may not be the cheapest, the petrol price comparator helps us find out which is the cheapest in a city.

To find the best petrol and prices from any brand and the nearest petrol stations, the CasaCocheCurro.com petrol station price comparator makes it easy to find out in seconds where the cheapest petrol station is in any location. Simply enter the name of the municipality you want to consult and the cheapest will appear in order, in addition to getting the closest route to get there using Google Maps.

Another possibility is the Petroprix mobile application, developed entirely by the company from Jaén with its own technology, it has 100,000 monthly active users all over Spain. This application locates the nearest stations with prices in real time, to provide both the locations of the operator’s gas stations and the savings you will get when refueling at one of its stations.

On the other hand, the user can also activate the ‘Zero Paper’ function, which means that he receives tickets and invoices digitally (e-mail and/or app) after every fill-up.

Other application options that we can download to our mobile are: GasAll, which allows you to find at any time the gas station that interests you most, selected by price, fuel or by taking advantage of some kind of promotion.

GasofApp allows us to have the gas stations on screen with the price of their fuel and the routes to reach them all without having to leave the application itself. This allows us to add a list of “favorites” based on our past experiences.

A common first recommendation to try and save a few pennies is to fill up the tank early in the morning. The ambient temperature and soil is lower.
All filling stations have their deposits underground. Rather, it happens during the day, when ground temperatures rise and fuels tend to expand. If the tank is filled in the afternoon, afternoon or evening, the liter of fuel will not be exactly one litre. In the oil industry, specific gravity and soil temperature play a very important role.

However, industry technicians point out to ABC that “this is not the case, because the dispenser meter only measures volume (which is the quantity measured in litres) and the reading does not vary. But if it has a higher specific gravity due to its temperature, then that liter weighs more and supplies more energy, which we eventually buy at the gas station.”

According to SPG Talleres, one of the reasons we try to drive with a full tank is to take advantage of a reasonable price for gasoline. However, after calculating the savings per liter and the costs of being overweight, there can be a difference of about 25 kilos between a tank that is half full and a tank that is completely full.

What is certain is that a full tank more effectively prevents gasoline from evaporating, as there is less room for air, with rising temperatures the condensation is less than when the tank is below the minimum.

The more fuel there is in the tank, the less air there is. The fuel evaporates faster than usually thought. That is why large refinery tank tanks have floating roofs on the inside, keeping the air separate from the fuel, with the aim of minimizing evaporation.

In addition, the fuel pumps are electric, so when fully submerged in the liquid, they have more cooling and thus better maintenance on their own.

With all this data, the experts at SPG Talleres recommend keeping the tank half full, tending to be completely full, but without reaching it.

Other recommendations to save fuel and not cause damage to the engine are, for example, not to fill up the tank while filling up the tanks at the gas station or immediately afterwards. If you arrive at the gas station and see a tanker filling up its underground tanks, or has just refilled it, it is usually advisable not to fill up at that time. The explanation is that when the tanks are refilled, the fuel and bottom sediments left behind are removed. So you run the risk of storing dirty fuel. However, the expert technicians consulted by this newspaper do not agree with this last statement.

Finally, when filling the tank, it is recommended not to tighten the handle of the spout to the maximum, because depending on the pressure applied, the speed of the spout can be slow, medium or high. In this case, it is recommended to choose the slowest mode to save money.

Dosing slower creates less steam and makes most of the pour an effective filling. All delivery hoses return steam to the tank. When the tank is filled by pushing the handle to the maximum, a certain percentage of the liquid entering the tank turns into steam and returns to the station tank through the spout hose. Which means they get less fuel for the same money.
