Article 195 of the Penal Code stipulates that he who does not help a person in danger, when he could do so without his own risk or that of a third party, shall be punished; as included in the new Traffic Act
It is not a secret for anyone that having a traffic accident is a traumatic event, but not only for those who suffer from it, but also for those who see it. With the nerves and confusion of the moment, few people know how to react properly.
But
assistance in an accident is a duty: Article 195 of the Penal Code stipulates that whoever fails to help a person in danger, when he could do so without his own risk or that of a third party, is punished with a fine of three to twelve months.
In the event that the person causing the injury does not help the victim, the penalty is imprisonment from 6 to 18 months.
And according to the new Traffic Act, non-compliance with the rules regarding assistance on public roads is considered a very serious offense and carries a fine of 500 euros.
Helping a traffic accident victim can save their life and even if you don’t think you know, any little action is better than not helping. In some cases, many road casualties suffer worse consequences or are even killed by hit cars, even in serious accidents.
