The Suzuki V-Strom 650 remains at the top as a reference model
The Suzuki V-Strom 650 remains at the top as a reference model among the medium displacement ‘trail’ and retains all its validity within the segment.
The good balance achieved has made the V-Strom a reference motorcycle for those looking for maximum versatility. An everyday trail that allows you to move in the middle of traffic, and the perfect adventure companion to push new limits on all kinds of roads and even dirt roads.
It is the result of constant evolution since Suzuki released the V-Strom 650 in 2004, a smaller version of the V-Strom 1000 that came out two years earlier. It was powered by the gleaming 645cc V-twin, derived from the SV650 and anchored to an aluminum twin-spar frame, just like its big sister.
With an indicated 67 CV, it was defined as a touring and sports motorcycle at the same time, practical and versatile. It was a simple motorcycle in its approach, but very pleasant to use and surprisingly effective. In addition, the V-Strom 650 took good care of the passenger and allowed the installation of cases, which helped many users to enter the world of long trips. Since then it has not stopped evolving.
And the story continues, with the 2023 version already ready, which is still offered in two versions, the standard variant and the XT. The latter, the most adventurous, endowed with a number of distinctive elements. For example, it has wire wheels with which it increases its sturdiness to roll off the asphalt.
It has defenses and protections and a different screen. Elements designed for more intensive use on the track, although always keeping in mind that it is a motorcycle specially designed to enjoy paved roads. In both cases, the dimensions of the wheels are 19” at the front and 17” at the rear.
Thanks to its extended chassis, it is very agile on winding roads and at the same time transmits great balance on open roads. On a double spar aluminum chassis, it mounts a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock with adjustable spring preload and rebound.
Relying on a 310 mm twin disc, with Tokiko four-piston calipers on the front axle, behind a disc equipped with a twin-piston caliper, together they provide balanced, powerful and perfectly meterable braking thanks to the careful touch from the start . lever and pedal.
It is also available in both versions with a 35 kW limitation, for riders who want a motorcycle that is easy to handle, simple and versatile until they have passed the first two years of the A2 license. And that makes it possible, once this process is completed, to delimit it immediately.
The V-Strom 650 keeps its color range intact for the 2023 versions. For example, it is available in three color options: white, vibrant pearl blue (all blue) and gloss black (black with yellow details).
