The new JUKE Hybrid, the Qashqai and X-Trail e-POWER and the Ariya 100% electric coupé crossover make up the offer
80% of the crossovers Nissan sold in Spain in 2022 were electrified, compared to 11% of the Spanish market. An attraction that is mainly based on its e-POWER technology and that the Japanese brand wants to take advantage of to continue growing. Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid technology, which enables its vehicles to display the ECO label on the windshield, has been instrumental in the growth of models such as the Juke, Qashqai and X-Trail. To these three models should be added the Ariya, 100% electric, which completes the electrified range of the Japanese brand. In 2022, Nissan was the first brand to cross the 500,000 SUV sales mark in Spain.
The success of Nissan crossovers dates back to 2007, when they launched the Qashqai. A compact model with the maximum interior and 4×4 capacities of the brand. In 2010 came the little brother, the Juke. At the same time, Nissan took a leap forward to bring the first 100% electric car to the general market: the Nissan LEAF.
The SUV range comes practically standard with a state-of-the-art technological load, allowing vehicles to get all the performance on different tracks, as we verified in the sixth edition of the “X-Over Domination” in the Pyrenees near Puigcerdá (Gerona ). Whether on highways, urban roads or mountain roads, the behavior of the four models is very confident, especially in the most demanding moments, whether it is very demanding cornering or responsiveness.
The ‘off-road’ tests focused on the new X-Trail e-POWER with the e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system. A model that, in addition to descent control, is also equipped with specific driving modes for snow and field. On snowy mountain roads and sub-zero temperatures, the Nissan model showed great grip at all times, aided in part by the Michelin Cross Climate tyres.
And for the tests in the Pyrenees, the Nissan models were fitted with Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Cross Climate 2 SUV tyres, which ensured grip on snowy and icy roads. Certified for winter mobility, eliminating the need for chains, this range of Michelin all-season tires is the industry leader in wet and snow performance, as well as dry braking and durability.
The new Juke Hybrid retains the personality of the original model. It combines high performance and good efficiency in terms of consumption. It mounts a multimodal powertrain and an intelligent gearbox that provides traction through pure electric power or a combination of combustion engine and electric motor. Nissan’s e-Pedal system allows the driver to accelerate and decelerate the car to a low speed, enhancing convenience and driving comfort.
Building on its heritage as a crossover pioneer since 2007, they feature e-POWER motorization, where a battery powers a 190hp 100% electric motor and a small internal combustion engine that charges the battery on the go.
The new generation of the Nissan family crossover features the e-POWER system in combination with the e-4ORCE all-wheel drive technology. The e-4ORCE system independently transfers the necessary power to each of the four wheels to achieve the best grip on all types of road.
Ariya is Nissan’s first all-electric coupe crossover. It uses the CMF-EV platform developed by Nissan for the Renault Alliance, allowing for a very spacious interior.
This model, like the X-Trail, includes the e-4ORCE four-wheel drive system that allows full control of the vehicle in any environment. The power distribution of the electrical system provides instant throttle response.
