Updated, sportier exterior styling accentuates the emotional character of the new Kia XCeed

Kia’s successful compact crossover XCeed has received a number of product improvements, including a bold new exterior design. These changes make the XCeed an even more attractive offering in the competitive C-Crossover segment.

As one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in its class, the new XCeed is a flagship model for Kia. It is distinguished by its state-of-the-art advanced security, connectivity and infotainment systems. Designed to improve everyday usability, driving pleasure and occupant safety, these updates continue the XCeed’s legacy as a technology leader in the C-Crossover segment.

It features new LED headlights on a revised grille, a distinctive front bumper and an innovative air intake design. By creatively integrating the fog lights into the headlights, the designers have succeeded in incorporating air deflectors on both sides, which gently guide the fog lights around the vehicle’s wheels. This reduces air resistance and improves fuel economy.

The new XCeed is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels specific to the CUV segment. At the rear, features include a new diffuser with gloss black underskirt and a discreet tailpipe design, giving the entire XCeed range a fresh, sporty look. In profile, the relatively long bonnet flows into the A-pillars behind the front wheels, creating a sporty, swept-back silhouette.

At the rear, LED taillights emit a sleek, highly technical light signature that seems to shoot at the car’s shoulders from certain angles. Strong lines running horizontally across the tailgate and rear bumper give the new XCeed a wider, more stable stance.

Superior ergonomics and high-quality materials create a first-class environment. Inside, the new Kia XCeed’s sculpted center console is angled slightly toward the driver. With an impressive seat height and greater ground clearance than a conventional passenger car, the Kia XCeed offers the driver a sportier cockpit and a better view of the road.

A “floating” touchscreen infotainment system is detached from the dash, while below it is a series of touch-sensitive knobs, dials and switches to control audio volume, heating and ventilation. Highly ergonomic in their layout and functionality, these controls have been redesigned to improve interaction and allow drivers to make quick changes to the cab environment without taking their eyes off the road.

The new Kia XCeed features attractive new graphics on the 12.3-inch (31 cm) Supervision digital instrument panel, which can be linked to the vehicle’s driving modes. A gloss black center panel and new thin-bezel rear-view mirror enhance both form and function.

The interior is finished with refined, soft-touch materials throughout, with a satin chrome trim on the dashboard adding a refined, premium touch. Customers can choose from a range of fabric, synthetic leather or genuine leather seat upholstery finishes.

The new Kia XCeed is designed to combine the cabin and luggage space of a larger model with a sportier and more compact body. Located between the five-door Ceed and the Kia Sportage, the Kia XCeed offers interior space and luggage space comparable to other blockbuster models in Europe.

With an overall length of 4,395mm, the new Kia XCeed is 85mm longer than the five-door Ceed and 120mm more compact than the Sportage. Its maximum roof height of 1,495mm places it 48mm above the Ceed and 155mm below the Sportage, implying a lower center of gravity than its big brother.

The updated line-up consists of three turbocharged petrol direct injection (T-GDi) engines: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDi generating 120 hp and 172 Nm of peak torque; a 1.5-liter four-cylinder T-GDi that reaches 160 hp and 253 Nm of maximum torque; and a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi unit, the same as the Ceed and ProCeed GT models, available for the most powerful variant of the XCeed. With an output of 204 hp and a torque of 265 Nm across a wide rev range, the muscular 1.6-litre T-GDi engine is perfectly suited for dynamic driving in a variety of situations. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds when fitted with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The new XCeed again has a highly efficient plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain option. It consists of a lithium polymer battery with 8.9 kWh, a 44.5 kW electric motor and an economical 1.6-liter four-cylinder GDI engine. Combined with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (6DCT), the PHEV transfers up to 141 hp and 265 Nm to the front wheels. In addition, it offers an electric range of up to 48 km and up to 60 km city driving. This allows most daily commutes and short commutes to be run solely on electrical power. The 1.6-litre XCeed plug-in hybrid model is only available with the six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
