After a good reception of the unique example presented in the summer of 2022, MINI will continue with a small series of the 100% electric Cooper SE convertible
Following the positive response to the one-off presentation in summer 2022, MINI is continuing with a small series of the 100% electric MINI Cooper SE Convertible (combined consumption: 17.2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g / km) which means another big step towards electric mobility. The world’s first premium four-seater convertible with zero local emissions in the small car segment shortens the transition period to the introduction of the next generation of all-electric models. From April, the MINI Cooper SE Convertible will be available in Europe in a limited number of 999 vehicles and in Spain in May.
The MINI Cooper SE Convertible is available in 2 colours: Enigmatic Black Metallic and White Silver Metallic. The door handles, front grille trim, side scuttles and headlamp and taillight surrounds are finished in ‘Resolute Bronze’. Matching MINI logos and model lettering in elegant “Piano Black”. The E logo of the MINI Cooper SE is located on the front apron and at the rear and visually underlines the emission-free driving pleasure.
Other equipment details specific to the limited series also adorn the door sills and side sills and underline the exclusive character of the MINI open-air limited edition with the lettering 1/999. MINI takes a pioneering role with the edition-specific alloy wheels. The 17″ cast alloy wheels in two-tone ‘Electric Power Spoke’ design are made of 100 percent secondary aluminum. The combination of green electricity during production and the use of secondary raw materials can significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional production processes.
The sports seats have the MINI Yours Leather Lounge design and are equipped with heating and an adjustable thigh support. The multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather adds to the driving pleasure and elegant driving comfort and can also be heated. On the lower spoke of the steering wheel, the MINI Electric lettering underlines the limited character of the 100% electric convertible. The exclusive ‘Piano Black’ surfaces, which can be elegantly enhanced by ambient lighting, also add to the exclusive character of the car. The interior design emphasizes the 100% electric character of the four-seater convertible with details in yellow, such as the start-stop switch.
The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor comes from the BMW Group’s e-mobility competence centers in Dingolfing and Landshut. Its small size allows a particularly harmonious distribution of the load on the axles and promotes agile and easily controllable behavior. The electric drive smoothly accelerates the MINI Cooper SE Convertible from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.
With a range of 201 kilometers determined in the WLTP test cycle, open-air excursions are possible far beyond the city limits. Up to a speed of 30 km/h, the fully electric and particularly quiet fabric soft top in MINI Yours style with typical Union Jack print can be opened, closed or configured as a sunroof.
The first units will arrive in Spain in May 2023 until 53 vehicles will arrive in the country. The price on the Spanish market for the new MINI Cooper SE Convertible is 61,000 euros.
