Renault gets its own range for new brand ‘Mobilize’

Date:

Change the purchase concept for the car model per subscription

The figures show where the automotive industry is evolving: vehicles are unused 90% of the time, lose 50% of their value three years after purchase and the automotive industry is responsible for 15% of greenhouse gas emissions. CO2 in Europe. All this poses a major challenge for car manufacturers. To tackle them, Renault has created a new brand of services and technology, Mobilize, with which they aim to represent 10% of the group’s turnover by 2025, a share that will increase to 20% by 2030 according to its forecasts.

Mobilize will have its own range of vehicles, although they will not be for sale, but will be used with a subscription. The first to arrive will be the Limo, a car produced in China, which will be followed by three more launches until 2026. The second will be the Duo, which will arrive in 2023 and which the company says will reimburse the total cost. up to 35% of usage compared to a four-seat electric car. Later, the Bento and Hippo will be launched, intended for the distribution of the last mile.

Mobilize’s general manager, Clotilde Delbos, indicated that the decision not to sell the car to customers, but rather to allow them to only subscribe to different services, will allow to triple the revenue that can be earned per vehicle, since “this it can get a second and even a third life, achieving a higher occupancy rate compared to a car that stands still for 90% of its life.

According to Delbos, the ecological footprint is also reduced and the circular economy is promoted, thereby strengthening the relationship with customers through dealers.

“Mobilize sells services, not vehicles, which allows us to generate recurring revenues and reduce operating costs for our customers. We have decided to cover the elements of the mobility value chain with the greatest growth potential,” the CEO of Mobilize explains to ABC.

Mobilize is “a new brand born from the reorganization of the group’s assets”. It focuses on offering a more VaaS oriented model (Vehicle-as-a-Service), with a complete offering based on an integrated software ecosystem. Includes subscription services, car sharing, financing services, insurance and payment through Mobilize Financial Services. It will also offer vehicle charging, maintenance and recycling. In this last part, based on the data for the predictive maintenance of the vehicles, Mobilize will call on the network of dealers and the Renault group’s Refactories, such as those in Flins (France) or Seville to repair their vehicles. repair and overhaul.

Renault has chosen Spain as the vanguard to conduct the first tests of subscription services, which will start next summer. “Spain is or will be the whole range of services we want to offer, which is why Zity started here,” said Delbos.

According to the directive, Renault has 6,000 dealers in Europe (600 in Spain), who will benefit from the subscriptions despite the models not being sold, as they are responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks and managing customer usage.
