Since the electric motor is located at the rear of the vehicle, traction also goes to the rear wheels. This engine arrangement does not hinder a large luggage space: 411 litres. The rear seats are split 60:40 and can be moved forward up to 13 centimeters to increase luggage space.
With a specialized suite of applications and a customizable user interface for information, the car embraces technology aimed at connecting people, places and experiences, both virtually and in real life. The new Smart #1 will feature an avatar developed using artificial intelligence, which will include voice control and become a digital assistant within the 3D user interface. This aligns seamlessly with the interconnected ecosystem of automotive, app and cloud data, all tied to personal identification and protected by the highest standards of cybersecurity encryption.
Among the extensive driver assistance equipment of the electric Smart #1 are elements such as the 7 airbags, the adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, the active lane assist system, the rear blind spot control, assistance on the road and in traffic jams, automatic parking assistant and adapted high beam assistant. In addition, it has a panoramic glass roof, digital key with remote control, electronic door handles with indirect lighting that automatically detect the approach of the person holding the key, customizable mood lighting with 64 colors and 20 intensity levels, Matrix LED headlights, dynamic turn signals and Y-shaped light strips front and rear. Optionally, a powerful sound system with Beats technology can be mounted, consisting of an amplifier and 13 speakers, including a subwoofer.
To meet the ever-changing mobility needs of users, the new Smart #1, and all its connected services, form a true ecosystem. A centralized IT architecture provides dynamic updates in the cloud, so that more than 75% of all control units in the car can be continuously updated remotely.
