Peugeot aims to sell only electric cars by 2030

Date:

The brand presents its e-Xperience days, with which it wants to make known its electrified range

The year 2035 is marked on the calendar for automakers and buyers. It is the date on which, if the European Union plenary does not change it, the Environment Committee will set a limit on the sale of combustion engine cars. In other words, from that date only electric vehicles may be marketed.

A rapid process requiring a process of awareness among users and the implementation of public charging points in the case of Spain, which ranks second to last in Europe, just ahead of Greece, in the number of installations charged per inhabitant.

The brands have installed their own batteries, and in Peugeot’s case, the aim is that by 2030 all the cars it sells will be electric. Currently, 80% of the range already has electrified versions, ie 100% electric or plug-in hybrids. In the case of commercial vehicles, 100% of the model range already has electric versions.

To publicize this complete range of vehicles, the company has organized the Peugeot e-Xperience Days, which will be held in the Spanish capital from 20 to 22 May. To enjoy the opportunity to discover the electrified universe of the brand, interested parties simply need to register in the open form at https://www.peugeot-e-xperiencedays.es.

With 12 models with electric or plug-in hybrid versions covering all kinds of categories and segments, the star of this event is the 308 SW plug-in hybrid, which is thus making its presentation in Spain. It combines a 150 hp PureTech petrol engine with an 81 kW electric motor, emitting 25 g/km CO2 WLTP and up to 60 km of 100% electric autonomy. The top of the range is represented by the HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 drive chain, which has emissions of 26 g/km and allows driving up to 59 km in “zero emissions” mode. Both versions benefit from the “Zero” label of the Directorate-General for Traffic.

But the electric range starts with the most urban models. For example, the 208 is available as a 100% electric model, with an output of 136 hp and features designed to be enjoyed at the wheel: it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and with an autonomy of up to 340 miles.

The next step is taken by the e-2008, the most Spanish 100% electric SUV. This model develops a power of 100 kW. In terms of performance, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds and delivers 260 Nm of torque at all speeds. Thanks to the 50 kWh battery, it can reach a range of 310 km.

The larger models, such as the 308 SW, use a plug-in hybrid system. For example, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid is available in the Hybrid 300 version, with four-wheel drive and up to 300 hp, and the Hybrid, with front-wheel drive, which develops 225 hp. Both enjoy the benefits of the “Zero” label from the Directorate General for Traffic: free entry and free parking in the center of many Spanish cities, even during pollution peaks.

Finally, the Peugeot 508 is characterized by the highest performance of the entire range, as it adds a 180 hp/132 kW PureTech petrol engine to an 80 kW/110 hp electric motor to achieve a combined maximum power of 225 hp/165 kW. to offer. kW, with CO2 emissions of less than 49 g/km. The battery with a capacity of 11.8 kWh provides a range of up to 40 kilometers in 100% electric mode, more than enough distance for city or suburban journeys.

To solve the problems of charging in the household, Peugeot has just created within the Stellantis group the new brand e-Solutions, which allows to obtain a charger from about 500-600 euros, which should be added to the cost of the installation (about 1,000 euros depending on the characteristics of the car park), and deduct the possibility of a 70% subsidy through the Relocation Plan.
