Iveco Daily Camper: lower consumption and numerous improvements for life on board

Date:

The new model offers a driving experience and consumption and emissions closer to a minivan than a motorhome

With the summer holidays just around the corner, IVECO is putting a new spin on one of the most acclaimed models as the basis for ‘motorhome’ vehicles, the Daily, applying endless innovations to improve life on board, and adding mechanical improvements to achieve reduced consumption.

The Daily Camper offers a driving experience and consumption and emissions closer to a minivan than a motorhome. The rigidity and lightness of the assembly, the quality of the chassis and the performance of the engine-gearbox ensure a comfortable, agile, efficient and safe driving.

The 2.3-litre Heavy Duty F1A diesel engine delivers 115 kW (156 hp) and maximum torque of 380 Nm. This engine stands out for its fuel consumption and achieves up to 6% fuel savings in the WLTP cycle compared to the previous model. Thanks to its low emissions, it meets Euro 6-D Final and Euro VI-E standards and achieved Conformity Factor 1 (CF = 1) before the regulation came into effect. This means that it complies with emission limits under real-life conditions and over the life of the vehicle.

Another strong point is the HI-MATIC 8-speed automatic gearbox, which enables smooth, comfortable and efficient driving. With an intelligent and self-adaptive shifting strategy, gear changes in less than 200 milliseconds and a wide range of ratios, the HI-MATIC automatic transmission is the ideal companion for a motorhome.

The Daily, which has always been the most resistant vehicle in its category and has shown the best performance over time, is repositioned as the best possible basis for the development of the new IVECO motorhome. In addition, as optional items not included as standard, the Camper version can also benefit from the advancements of the latest generation of the Daily, such as the innovative IVECO Driver Pal digital voice assistant that allows the driver to interact with his vehicle and with the community of drivers via Amazon Alexa voice commands, as well as checking the vehicle’s status, requesting assistance if necessary or asking advice on driving style to save fuel and travel safely with the MYIVECO skill. This model, with new seats made of viscoelastic foam, also includes the revolutionary AIR-PRO air suspension, which continuously adapts to the conditions of use and reduces the cornering roll angle by 30%, for a smoother and safer ride.

This model is 6 meters long and has a wide sliding door on the right side (with a new gutter), rear step and rear doors with 270º opening. The side windows are now sliding (previously hinged) and have a roller blind and mosquito net. New DOMETIC skylights of higher quality have also been incorporated; and a dimmer controller for outdoor lighting.

The design and interior configuration have undergone significant changes, with the aim of increasing durability and making life on board more practical. The floor remains completely flat, with a volume of 12 m3 and the large interior height of 1.9 meters (there is also an approved version with 2.1 m internal height and 18 m3 volume).

The fixed kitchen has been replaced to give the user more flexibility as it allows them to enjoy outdoor cooking with a portable kitchen (not included). The structure of the cabinets is made of PVC, while the fronts are made of poplar wood, which offers great resistance and insulation against moisture, mold and any other form of water ingress. New warm white LED strips have been placed under the raised furniture and in the dining room, in addition to the two in the sleeping area, a new lamp has also been placed, each with two integrated USB connections.

The fridge, with hinged door, can be opened to the right or left, increasing the capacity from 75 to 90 liters and a more resistant worktop has been fitted, in anti-fingerprint and anti-stain HPL. The dining room seats have also been improved and are now mounted on an OKB chassis structure and have ISOFIX anchorages. The technical materials of the floor are retained, which ensures greater resistance to use, ease of cleaning and a lower weight. In the bathroom, the mirror and the wooden platform of the shower tray are new.

The Daily Camper has two removable double beds, including a versatile configuration that can accommodate up to 4 passengers and overnight.

Two other new features that users will appreciate are the fresh water tank installed inside to prevent freezing and a more powerful 4 kW stationary heater. As with the previous Daily Camper, the new model comes standard with automatic climate control, digital DAB radio, bluetooth with hands-free and steering wheel controls, USB port for charging and cruise control.
