The price of petrol is already above two euros, well above the average level of the rest of Europe
The petrol price reaches a new record after more than 2 euros and is already ‘eating up’ the government subsidy. According to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU), it is possible to save up to €250 by choosing the cheapest gas stations.
The price differences between the cheapest and the most expensive chains are striking. With diesel, the difference between the cheapest and the most expensive chain is on average 21.5 cents per liter. At 95 petrol the difference is 20.2 cents.
For a vehicle with normal use and consumption, these differences mean a difference of more than €250 for both fuels, due to the lower consumption of diesel and the higher price of petrol. The cheapest chains are those of distribution chains that want to attract customers to their branches through low prices. Low-cost chains with a self-service model or direct automatic are also among the cheapest.
In addition to the geoportal of the gas station, where we can find the official rates for all of Spain, we can also use Google Maps, one of the most popular navigation systems, to perform the search once we are on the road.
The procedure to use is very simple. From the ‘smartphone’ all you have to do is open the Google Maps application. At the top, just below the search bar, the user will find several icons, including one that says “Gas stations.” If you ‘click’ on that, the locations of the stations closest to your situation will appear on the screen.
The internet user also sees how information about the various filling stations is displayed at the bottom of the screen. It is only necessary to click on it to display the prices of the fuels they sell. In addition, the user can check here what the parking hours are, the hours when he is busiest or the opinions of other users.
The app, and its functionality, is available for all devices. Both iPhones with iOS operating system and Google Android.
You can also click THIS OTHER LINK if you want to download the App on your mobile from the official website of the Electronic Public Service. This application provides a search for gas stations on the map with their corresponding prices. It facilitates the analysis of the price distribution, segmented by province, type of fuel and/or distributor. The graphs are customizable and include weather data, traffic incidents and other interesting data.
Another possibility is the Petroprix mobile application, fully developed by the Jaen-based company with its own technology, which has 100,000 active users monthly throughout Spain. This application geolocates the nearest stations with prices in real time, to provide both the locations of the operator’s gas stations and the savings you get when refueling at one of its stations.
On the other hand, the user can also activate the ‘Zero Paper’ function, whereby he receives tickets and invoices digitally (e-mail and/or app) after each refueling.
Other application options that we can download to our mobile are: GasAll, which allows you to find at any time the gas station that interests you most, selected by price, by fuel or by taking advantage of some kind of promotion.
With GasofApp we can have the gas stations on the screen with the price of their fuel and the routes to reach each of them without having to leave the application itself. Allows us to add a list of “favorites” based on our past experiences
The average petrol price in Spain has risen to a new all-time high, already above the 2 euros per liter level for the first time, and already ‘eating up’ the full subsidy of 20 cents per liter that came into effect last April.
Specifically, the average price of a liter of petrol stood at 2,048 euros this week, after an increase of 4% from seven days ago, according to data from the European Union Oil Bulletin.
Taking into account this subsidy, the price of a liter of petrol would therefore be more expensive than in the last week of March (1,818 euros), before the discount was applied, with which the price increase recorded by this fuel since then has already absorbed all the aid.
In the case of diesel, the average price per litre, after three weeks of declines, has risen again, increasing by 3.45% compared to seven days ago, to 1,916 euros.
With these levels, the price of 95 unleaded petrol in Spain is already above the European Union average, located at 2,018 euros per liter, although not from the Eurozone, with an average price of 2,061 euros.
In the case of diesel, the price in Spain is also higher than the EU average of 1,908 euros, although with a price of 1,942 euros it is below that of the eurozone.
The price of fuel depends on several factors, such as the specific price (independent of oil), the evolution of crude oil, taxes, the cost of raw materials and logistics and gross margins.
