Bringing together more than one hundred and seventy classic and sporty Renault models in Valladolid, the event this year pays tribute to the R5 on its 50th anniversary.
The seventh edition of “VallClassic” was presented in Valladolid, a concentration of Renault classics and sports cars organized by the “Friends of Renault Spain Association”, and sponsored by the VASA Arroyo Group, official Renault dealer and Center Alpine Valladolid .
The meeting is next Sunday, June 12, and will take place at Paseo Central del Campo Grande and Acera de Recoletos, in Valladolid, the diamond brand’s birthplace in Spain.
Among these fifty examples are models from the whole period from 1972 to 1992 in which it was produced in Valladolid, including several copies of the R5 Turbo and Maxi Turbo, the 5 Copa and Alpine and even one of the few survivors of the one hundred and thirteen R5 with an electric motor produced in collaboration with EDF (Électricité de France) and intended for the French government between 1972 and 1975.
The reception of the participating vehicles at the Plaza de Colón will start on Sunday 12 June at 9:00 am, after which the cars will be exhibited by model. For their part, the R5 participants will embark on a guided tour, between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, which will take them to the entrance of the assembly plant 2 of the Renault plant, where a photo and video session will be held to immortalize this historic event . After that, they will meet again with the rest of the company’s models, seen in the Paseo Central del Campo Grande and Acera de Recoletos area.
From 4 pm there will be interviews with former Renault workers who worked in the production process of the R5 between 1972 and 1992.
The commemorative medals with R5 will be presented to the participants at 6:00 PM, then prizes will be awarded and there will be a raffle of gifts among all participants, with the concentration ending at 8:00 PM.
