The Consumers and Users’ Organization asked the opinion of more than 1,200 motorists on the condition of these roads
Spain is connected by highways and expressways that support more than half of the national road traffic, according to the Directorate-General for Transport (DGT). The movement of slower vehicles such as mopeds or animal-drawn vehicles is prohibited on these roads. Every day there are a large number of people circulating on the Spanish highways and highways.
The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has conducted a survey to assess the condition of highways and expressways across Spain. 1,259 drivers were asked to give their opinion on, among other things, the condition of the road, signage, width, safety in bends, the presence of crash barriers, road works, the layout of entrances and exits, the number of service or rest areas and traffic flow. It was established from this study that the most highly valued aspects are the high traffic intensity, the presence of works, the poor condition of the road and the design of the slip roads.
– AP8 Cantabrian highway (Irún-Bilbao). Rating: 5.7 out of 10. The excessive flow, the continuous works and the unsafety in the bends have been assessed negatively.
– AP1 northern highway (Vitoria-Irún). Rating: 5.8 out of 10. Worst is the presence of works and the limited number of service zones, in addition to the high traffic flow and poor design of entrances and exits.
– Motorway A49 V Centenario (Seville-Portugal). Rating: 6 out of 10. The worst, the excessive traffic flow and the few catchment areas. Other sections with a poor evaluation are those referring to the presence of works and the condition of the road.
– A7 Mediterranean highway (Algeciras-Almería). Rating: 6 out of 10. The most negative, the works. But it is also notable for the poor layout of the entrances and exits, the poor condition of the road and the few service areas.
– AP9 Atlantic Highway (Ferrol-Portugal). Rating: 6.1 out of 10. The worst, the bad condition of the road. Frequent works are the other section pushing the qualification of this away.
– Motorway A52 Rías Baixas (Benavente-Vigo). Rating: 6.1 out of 10. The worst, the continuous work. But it also brings together the reviews about road condition, lack of service areas and lack of crash barriers.
