A serious industrial accident occurred on Wednesday at the construction site of the Koralmbahn near Frauental an der Laßnitz in Styria: a 28-year-old worker was hit by several falling iron formwork panels. He was flown to UKH Graz seriously injured.
Around noon, a 28-year-old Pole was dismantling the formwork after concrete work on the Koralmbahn construction site. According to the police, he was standing on a train car untying and arranging iron formwork panels from a chain. When the man climbed from the car after loosening a formwork panel, several of the heavy panels came loose for reasons as yet unclear and hit the worker.
The 28-year-old suffered serious injuries and was flown to UKH Graz in a rescue helicopter after receiving first aid from an emergency doctor.
