On Monday, the gas storage in Austria will be 59.83 percent full. This means that a total of 57.2 terawatt hours (TWh) of natural gas is stored in domestic storage facilities.
This is equivalent to about 64 percent of Austria’s annual gas consumption, as reported by Leonore Gewessler, the climate ministry responsible for energy issues. It was emphasized that the storage target of 80 percent could be reached by November 1.
The daily storage amounts have been between 400 and 550 gigawatt hours in recent days and have increased again compared to the week before. The delivery quantities reduced by Russia could be replaced by purchases.
Due to the gas crisis, the state is also creating a strategic reserve for the first time. This comprises 20 TWh and should also flow into storage by 1 November.
