On the way to a house fire in Wernberg, Carinthia, a tank fire truck of the Zauchen volunteer fire brigade overturned (we reported). Three firefighters were taken to hospital. Meanwhile, the police were investigating.
Two firefighters have since been released from hospital after the accident. “The third comrade is still being treated as a patient,” said Manfred Amlacher, commander of the Zauchen volunteer fire department.
The exact cause of the accident is being determined
Police are now investigating how the accident could have happened. “We are treating this accident like any other. We are investigating the cause of the accident and are reporting it to the public prosecutor’s office,” police spokeswoman Lisa Sandrieser confirms in an interview with “Krone”.
Center of gravity and tank volume as an influencing factor
The fact that the vehicle, which weighed several tons, could tip over in a bend is due to the vehicle’s high center of gravity and the capacity of the tank. “The water in the car moves and exerts a certain force on the car,” says an expert.
