Again, scammers in Tyrol were very successful with the so-called nephew trick. In this case, however, the niece of an 88-year-old woman from Innsbruck acted as the bait. To supposedly protect her niece from jail, the retiree gave away her valuable coin collection.
Wednesday around noon, the 88-year-old from Innsbruck was called by several people. Everyone told the woman the same fairy tale: her niece had caused an accident with one death and now has to pay a high fine of six-figure euros. However, with the help of bail, the niece was able to be rescued from prison.

The retiree fell for the scam and was immediately ready to help her niece. In this regard, she told the callers about her gold coins, which she kept in the apartment. The scammers then tricked their victim into handing them the coins a little later.
The damage is enormous and amounts to about 50,000 euros. As is unfortunately so often the case in such cases, there is no trace of the criminals. investigations are underway.
