Dramatic end to a Wednesday evening bike ride in Burgenland: A family of four – mother and father were each on their bikes, their two small children were in a bicycle trailer – was hit by an oncoming car in a path. The driver was heavily intoxicated.
The collision took place on an accompanying path near Mönchhof in the Neusiedl am See district around 8:40 p.m. The family was on their way to Gols when a car driven by a 43-year-old approached them. The driver suddenly got the car on the left side of the road, the car hit the bicycle of the 39-year-old father of two without braking. The bicycle trailer in which the two children, aged nine months and two and a half years, were attached to his bicycle.

The 39-year-old was thrown against the windshield of the car and remained on the road. His 33-year-old wife, who was driving behind him, was also hit by the car. Both the parents and the two children were injured by the ambulance and were taken to Eisenstadt hospital.
The driver was uninjured, according to police she was very drunk. It is shown several times.
