Startled by gunfire, a witness warned the Vienna police around noon on Wednesday. When the officers arrived in front of the residential building in the Floridsdorf district, the suspicion was actually confirmed. However, the reason for firing the shots would not be to injure or to behave in a threatening manner, but rather as a noisy accompaniment to a ritual…
At about 12:30 p.m., a witness called who said he heard shots fired in an apartment. Police left and arrived at the scene a short time later at Jedleseer Strasse. In a sense, she was already expected there. A 33-year-old man was standing in front of the building.
In fact it was the alleged shooter, the Austrian admitted the shots when questioned, he had used an empty pistol. Meanwhile, other officers entered the crime scene and met the 33-year-old’s partner in the apartment.
“Energetic Ritual”
She confirmed the shots, but there was no arguing or arguing between the couple – quite the contrary. The suspect would have tried to break his negative vibrations in a rather unconventional and rather questionable way. “The woman stated that he shot because of an energetic ritual,” reports police spokesman Daniel Fürst, “to break the negative vibrations.”
The suspect then gave the officers two firearms and ammunition, ten tear gas cartridges and three pepper spray. Police also seized a small amount of drugs.
The 33-year-old suspect’s negative vibes are likely to increase again: he has been reported several times and a provisional gun ban has been issued.
