On Tuesday morning, a 24-year-old in the Gänserndorf district (Lower Austria) is said to have tried to steal a quad. The thief tried to flee and was arrested by the police thanks to blank shots.
At about 5 am, the police in Palterndorf-Dobermannsdorf were called because an unknown person was trying to steal a quad bike. When the police promptly arrived, the suspect hid behind a car, when this did not work, the perpetrator ran away in the direction of the B48. The police’s call to report him was unsuccessful. The 24-year-old was only finally stopped and arrested after two shots into the ground.

On a dirt road, the police were able to secure the burglary tools, which the thief had probably previously dropped while trying to escape. The accused turned out to be a confessor during the interrogation, as the Directorate of the State Police of Lower Austria explains. The man has filed a report with the public prosecutor in Korneuburg.
