At least 15 killed in Russian attack on train station in Ukraine

Date:

At least 50 people were injured in the attack, Ukrainian President Volodímir Zelensky said.

According to the country’s president, Volodimir Zelensky, who blames Russian forces, at least 15 people have been killed and another 50 injured by the impact of several missiles at a train station in eastern Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region.

Zelenski denounced the attack during a telematics appearance before the UN Security Council, where he warned that several cars were still on fire and that emergency services were still working in the area.

“The death toll could rise,” he said, according to a video shared on his Telegram account and collected by the UNIAN news agency.

Ukrainian authorities, fearing Russia would use Wednesday’s Independence Day commemoration to redouble its attacks, have warned of several operations in different parts of the country.

In the west, in the Khmelnitsky region, there have been several explosions that, according to Belarusian opposition activists, came from projectiles fired from neighboring Belarus. Specifically, they speak of at least four missiles, the DPA agency reports.

Bombings have also been confirmed in Jitomir, while an 11-year-old boy has died in Dnipropetrovsk after the impact of a rocket on a house. Warning sounds are a constant in different parts of Ukraine.
