A serious traffic accident occurred on the A14 Rheintalautobahn early in the evening on Tuesday. The BMW of a German family was a total loss. The 25-year-old driver and her 42-year-old passenger were so seriously injured that they had to be transported to hospitals in Dornbirn and Bregenz. Fortunately, a child who was also in the car was unharmed.
A 25-year-old motorist from Germany was driving with her 42-year-old husband as a passenger and their two-and-a-half-year-old child in the back seat in the fast lane of the A14 Rheintalautobahn towards Bregenz at around 5:45 PM. Between the Dornbirn West and Dornbirn Nord exits, the woman left the carriageway with her BMW 1-series and ended up against the central rail.
The vehicle was thrown back into the fast lane and eventually came to a stop, badly damaged. Due to the impact, an anchorage of the central crash barrier was torn loose and also remained in the fast lane. A subsequent 74-year-old motorist from Switzerland was just able to avoid the anchor, but then collided with the stationary car.

The 25-year-old woman and her 42-year-old husband suffered undisclosed injuries and were taken by ambulance to hospitals in Dornbirn and Bregenz. The child and the 74-year-old Swiss woman were unharmed. During the cleanup work, one lane had to be closed and traffic was diverted past the accident site.
