Large-scale police operation in the Lower Austrian district of Korneuburg: a 53-year-old there is said to have stabbed his wife (45) several times with a knife on Wednesday evening. Police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner said the suspect stabbed and beat the woman several times. The 45-year-old suffered stab wounds and cuts. She was taken to Korneuburg State Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The murder weapon – a box cutter – as well as burglary tools and clothing worn by the 53-year-old had been seized. The suspect was transferred to Korneuburg prison by order of the public prosecutor. However, he did not confess during a first session.
Suspicion of attempted murder
“An investigation is underway on suspicion of attempted murder,” a spokesman for the Korneuburg prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday. The imposition of pre-trial detention on the 53-year-old has not yet been requested, the facts are under investigation, it was emphasized. The surveys were taken over by the State Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria and the crime scene group.
