During a walk on the Gerlitzen in Carinthia, three Italian holidaymakers (69, 75 and 76) crossed a demarcated cow pasture. A mother cow, probably trying to protect her calves, attacked the women and seriously injured one of them!
In early August, there was an attack on a cow in Carinthia, in which a 69-year-old holidaymaker from Italy was seriously injured by a mother cow on Thursday. At around 11:30 am, she and her two friends were on a forest trail on the Gerlitzen in the municipality of Treffen. In the so-called “Kommalm” area, the three women entered a cow pasture that was demarcated and marked with warning signs.
“There were countless suckler cows and calves there. Because they wanted to pass the grazing animals, the 69-year-old and the 75-year-old left the forest path,” the police said. The third woman took her small dog in her arms, stayed on the forest path but walked in the same direction. Then it happened. :
Serious head and upper body injuries
A mother cow attacked the 69-year-old several times, knocking her to the ground and seriously injuring the woman’s head and upper body. The 75-year-old, who was not far from her boyfriend, was not attacked. Police say the animal may have tried to protect her calf.
The cow could be expelled. The seriously injured woman managed to get to safety under her own power before receiving first aid from the police officers who had been notified until the emergency services arrived. She was admitted to the LKH Villach.
