More than 1,500 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and more than 2,200 injured as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine since February 24, according to the latest UNHCR toll.
43 days have passed since the start of the war in Ukraine, as Russia continues to prepare its offensive in eastern Ukraine with the aim of taking total control of Donbass, according to the latest Ukrainian army war report released this morning.
“The main efforts of the occupiers are aimed at preparing for the offensive operation in eastern Ukraine, which aims to gain full control over the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” the military statement said. the Russians still operate in the directions of Slobozhansky (south of Zaporizhia), Donetsk and Tavriya (also in Zaporizhia but further south, almost to the Sea of Azov).
The United States’ Institute for the Study of War confirms in its latest bulletin that Russia has continued to redeploy its troops in the Axis towards Sloviansk, in the east of the country, for the past 24 hours and that “no advance”. This city is considered key in the foreseeable Russian offensive against the eastern regions of Ukraine.
According to this institution, in the past 24 hours Russian troops have completed the withdrawal from the Sumi region, in the northeast, and that part of the troops that had been there are transferred to the Russian city of Belgorado, near the border, to be “then deployed in the Dombass”.
With regard to the besieged city of Mariúpol, this North American institution confirms that “it cannot be confirmed whether any concrete changes have taken place” in the past twenty-four hours.

According to the latest updated balance sheet from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR), 1,563 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and 2,213 injured as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine since February 24.
The deceased have been identified as 379 men, 237 women, 43 boys and 24 girls, as well as 63 children and 817 adults pending identification. On the other hand, the injured have been identified as 254 men, 196 women, 44 girls and 40 boys, as well as 104 children and 1,575 adults awaiting identification.
The United Nations notes that most civilian casualties have been caused by the use of wide area impact explosive weapons, heavy artillery, the use of missile platforms and air strikes.
