The swimming accident that happened on Friday in Carinthia on Lake Wörthersee is tragic. At around 5 p.m., a woman floating in the water was discovered by two holidaymakers from Germany. For the 75-year-old pensioner, all help came too late.
The two vacationers were sitting on a pedal boat in the Metnitz beach area – eastern Klagenfurt Bay – between the boat rental and the ship pier when they suddenly discovered the body in the water. Using a float, they were able to pull the woman out of the water and bring it ashore.
CPR attempts unsuccessful
Immediately resuscitation measures – which were taken over by the informed RTW and the A&E doctor on the water rescue jetty – were carried out. But without success: the drowned woman could only be determined to be dead.
The drowned woman was from Klagenfurt.
