Due to heavy rainfall, there was an isolated fire operation in the Tyrolean Unterland on Sunday evening. The strangest was in Kirchbichl (Kufstein district) where an underpass was flooded and two cars didn’t sink completely, but at least got stuck.
Shortly before midnight, the underpass in the Kirchbichl train station area was flooded by the heavy rainfall. According to the local fire department, the water at the deepest point was 1.2 meters high. Two vehicles ended up in the bodies of water and were unable to continue.
Not the first time
The alarmed Floriani disciples finally pulled the cars out of the water with a winch. Fortunately no one was injured. By the way: this was not the first time that this underpass was under water. One user said on the fire service’s Facebook page: “In the underpass, it would also be better to install a ‘float’ that turns the traffic light to red.”
