Athens, April 7 (EFE) – Thirteen unaccompanied underage migrants left for Greece on Thursday as part of the Greek government’s relocation program, according to the Greek Ministry of Migration.
Twelve boys and one girl from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Bangladesh flew from Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos Airport to Iberia, where they agreed to receive half a thousand of the 1,600 Greek minors. A relocation program joined by thirteen countries.
With this program, which has been in force since April 2020, a total of 1212 homeless minors have been transferred from the Greek islands to other countries, and a total of 226 young people today have already left for Portugal.
The Ministry recalled that this relocation program responds to the spirit of European solidarity and shared responsibility by offering minors welcome and hospitality.
