Max passed away in 2020 (16). Before the night of his death, the teenager was at a drug party – his parents know who else was there. The second part of the tragic Max case series details these young people and the booming drug trade on social networks.
A total of five young people, three girls and two boys, met in September 2020 in Innsbruck – in an apartment cared for by a Tyrolean youth institution. Including the young people who were housed in these four walls. Except for Max (name changed), none of those present had a regular job at the time.
Max was on duty that day until 3.30 pm, the day before, according to his parents, he had withdrawn 50 euros from his account. “As a result, our son would have gone twice with an old friend to the Mentlvilla in Innsbruck – an institution for people with addictions – to buy drugs or pills there. He would have spent 45 euros on it,” said the father. . “We received a video showing the bad condition our child was in that night.”
“She definitely wanted resources”
girl 1 (the names of all the following persons are known to the editors): The drug party took place in her apartment that weekend. “According to our research, she would have been one of the motivating people who absolutely wanted illegal substances,” explains the Tyrolean, “the youth institution that takes care of the girl prevented us from talking to her after the death of our son.”
girl 2: She was then also taken in by a juvenile detention center. “She spent a few nights with our son in his staff room in late January 2020 and early February 2020 because she had no accommodation. There are chats from that time showing that this girl was already using and selling drugs at the age of 14,” she said. the father. It is said that she was the one who called Max’s parents after his death and told them some details about what would have happened in the apartment on those days.
“Immediately after this call, we received a video of this drug party via WhatsApp. The girl said she wanted to go to the police and file a report because things had happened that she absolutely could not support,” emphasizes the father.
“But how could she know all that?”
girl 3: “According to the scene at Landhausplatz, she was known as an expert and for her contacts with Mentlvilla. You can buy almost all drugs or pills there.” She would have offered drugs herself on Snapchat’s Messenger service.
“We know from her that she went to Mentlvilla twice with our son to get some numbing pills. And it was she who, the day after Max’s death, contacted everyone by mobile phone and told everyone about the death of our son. She also spread this message on the Landhausplatz. There she also told us that our child had a cardiac arrest because of the medicines used. But to this day we wonder: how could she know all that?” explains the Tyrolean.
guy 2: At that time he would have had a lot of contact with young people who were themselves active in the drug scene.
“Was probably the boldest drug dealer”
“We were also able to find other confidantes close to two of the three girls who attended the drug party. One of them was the first to tell us that our son had taken drug substitutes and had a cardiac arrest,” the father said.
“Probably the boldest drug dealer”
Another boy would be among these confidants. “The 19-year-old was probably the boldest and biggest drug provider on Instagram and Snapchat in Tyrol at the time,” says the father. Screenshots he took prove it – see images above. In principle, a wide variety of drugs were offered for sale on social networks, especially to children and young people.
For two years now, the “Tiroler Krone” has been listening to families with young or older children with drug problems. We are now dedicating a six-part series to Max’s tragic case. Read Tuesday in part 3 the backgrounds of the interrogations of those involved, the police investigation and the access to files. Part 1 can be found here.
