It’s an incredible tragedy about a family in the Tyrolean lowlands who has been shaken enough by fate! After an attack on the 37-year-old father, his sick son Leon died in the early morning hours in the Kitzbüheler Ache on Sunday – according to the first investigation results of the National Criminal Investigation Department. An autopsy on the body is scheduled for today, Monday.
According to the information from “Krone”, the investigation should be carried out at the Innsbruck Department of Forensic Medicine from 9:00 am. On Sunday afternoon, investigators said there were “no signs of outside violence at this time.” The autopsy was ordered by the Innsbruck prosecutor’s office. In addition, an expert report on the injuries of the father would have been ordered.
The current status of the investigation
It was about four o’clock on Saturday night. The 37-year-old father walked with his six-year-old son Leon in a buggy along the so-called Redford Promenade in St. Johann in Tirol. According to LKA boss Katja Tersch, the time is not unusual. “The severely mentally retarded boy regularly suffered from insomnia.”
But suddenly an unknown person allegedly stalked the two from behind and pulled a bottle over the father’s head. “The victim then fell unconscious to the ground and remained lying,” the researchers describe. At 5:20 a.m. a passerby found the man, who was still unconscious, and raised the alarm.
Leon crawled out of the pram, died in the floods
Horrible: Leon, who years ago was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic defect and would never have been able to speak as a result, was found dead a short time later on the sandbar of the nearby Kitzbüheler Ache. According to the police report, after the unscrupulous assault on his father, the six-year-old crawled out of the pram alone and fell into the floodwater.
He was immediately aborted and could not be found dead until about 600 meters downstream. “At the moment there are no signs of violence from outside,” emphasizes lead researcher Tersch.
There is no trace of phantom robbers
While the Bavarian father was being treated in hospital for head injuries, investigators found the German’s empty, apparently stolen wallet and cell phone in the immediate vicinity. However, there is no trace of the phantom.
