The summer holidays are coming to an end and the start of the new school year is just around the corner! The vanguard is Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland on September 5, followed a week later by the other federal states. The most important dates and – especially important – holidays and public holidays at a glance:
- School hasn’t even started yet, but of course you can still talk about the first holidays. They will be available at the end of October with the Austria-wide ones autumn break between National Day (October 26) and All Souls’ Day (November 2). Since October 26 falls on a Wednesday this year, schools can independently release the school on Monday and Tuesday and thus extend the time-out even further. Since November 2 is also a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week are alternatives to school autonomous days and extension of the holiday.
- In 2022/23, a total of four of these will be available to schools autonomous school days providing. At the beginning of December there is another right of use: The Immaculate Conception (December 8) falls on a Thursday this year, which means that Friday is an autonomous day for the school.
- December 24 is a Saturday this year and marks the beginning of the Christmas breakthat last until January 8.
- Die semester break 2023 are scheduled in Vienna and Lower Austria from February 4 to 12. In Burgenland, Carinthia, Salzburg, Tirol and Vorarlberg they fall from 11 to 19 February, in Upper Austria and Styria from 18 to 26 February.
- Easter holidays the students will have uniform from 1 to 10 April for the coming school year.
- Of the National holiday May 1st falls on a Monday next school year. The next day (May 2) the Latin and Greek exams start central school 2023, it will last until May 11 (Italian).
- On May 18 there is Ascension of Christ another Thursday holiday, the next bad day is again ideal for a school-autonomous day.
- They don’t really have a holiday character anymore Whitsun holidays from 27 to 29 May: It’s just a long weekend, which consists of the Whitsun weekend and Whit Monday. Tuesdays are normally given since the introduction of the autumn break (unless they are released autonomously by the school).
- The last public holiday before the end of school is then Corpus Christi on June 8 – the following Friday there is also if bad day a candidate for a school autonomous day.
- The school year ends on June 30 in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland and on July 7 in the other federal states. School will start again on September 4 or 11, 2023.
