A 78-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district was driving his car in Berg im Attergau on the Wötzing freight route towards the L540 Attergaustraße at around 11.45 am on Tuesday. At the intersection with the L540, he wanted to cross it in the direction of the Hipping freight route. At the same time, a 66-year-old from the Gmunden district was riding his motorcycle on the L540 Attergaustraße towards St. Georgen im Attergau.
Thrown in a ditch
According to his own statements, the 78-year-old overlooked the approaching motorcycle and drove into the intersection. This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles. The 66-year-old was thrown into an adjacent ditch by the force of the impact and suffered serious injuries. The motorcycle came to a stop against the guardrail and remained on the roadway.
All help came too late
The 66-year-old was immediately resuscitated by the following motorist or the oncoming rescue. However, all help came too late for him. He died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries.
