The last president of the USSR and father of “perestroika”, Mikhail Gorbachevipassed away this Tuesday in Moscow at the age of 91.
Mikhail Gorbachev passed away this afternoon after a long and serious illness.Central Clinical Hospital sources told the RIA Nóvosti bureau.
According to the TASS agency, Gorbachev will be buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscowwhere the remains of prominent figures of this country’s history lie and is also the grave of Gorbachev’s wife, Raísa.
Gorbachev had been out of the media spotlight for years due to health problems.
Local media reported that spent months in hospital due to many conditions. In 2019, the last Soviet leader was hospitalized because of pneumonia.
