Mountain rescue mission – German (69) falls into a mountain stream during a hike

Date:

A mountain hike ended painfully for a 69-year-old German in Tyrol’s Zillertal on Sunday: while crossing a mountain stream, the climber fell and dislocated his shoulder. Because a helicopter flight was not possible, the mountain rescue team had to be called in.

According to the police, the German was part of a group of six who climbed from the Grüne Wand hut to the Kasseler hut. It happened while crossing a mountain stream at an altitude of about 1,860 meters: the 69-year-old slipped and fell on his left shoulder.

No helicopter flight possible
“The man had a dislocated shoulder,” the police reported. Because a helicopter flight was apparently not possible due to the weather conditions, the Mayrhofen mountain rescue service was called. Twelve emergency services went to the injured. After first aid, the German was carried on a mountain stretcher over the hiking trail to the mountain rescue vehicle.

Finally, the injured man was handed over to the rescue team, who then took him to the Schwaz district hospital. The operation lasted about four hours.
