A German family of four and a local pilot were killed in a plane crash in Namibia, southwest Africa. The couple chartered a Cessna 210 with their two daughters and had an accident on the edge of the Zambezi on Tuesday afternoon.
The plane crashed minutes after takeoff from the runway on Impalila, a river island in the northeast of the country, according to local Superintendent Elifas Kuwinga.
The cause of the accident remains unclear for the time being, and investigations have already been launched.
Namibia is a popular holiday destination with its 2.5 million inhabitants. It is known for its diverse landscapes, including the Namib Desert, the fertile Caprivi Strip, the deserted Skeleton Coast with numerous shipwrecks and the rocky gorges of Fishriver Canyon.
