A woman from Innsbruck sounds the alarm: drug deals and stabbings are said to be the order of the day in the apartment building she lives next door. The manager looks on idly, criticizes the Tyrolean. Desperate, she turned to the “Tiroler Krone”.
Sonja R. has lived in an apartment on Speckbacherstrasse in Innsbruck for 22 years. All these years there have been no problems with the neighbours. But the Tyrolean has not been able to rest for about a month. The reason: Wild scenes would take place in the adjacent building on Franz-Fischer-Strasse: “There live Moroccans who deal drugs”, R. describes in an interview with the “Tiroler Krone”, “Knife fights are the order of the day. The police and ambulance are here almost every day.”
Syringe found, scenes captured on video
The woman also claims to have recently discovered a syringe. But it goes on. According to R., the former caretaker was beaten in such a way that a hospital stay was necessary. The resident is also concerned about the children playing in the courtyard. “They shouldn’t notice how the police sometimes use sniffer dogs to search the area for drugs and accessories.”
One of the residents captured the scenes on video and made it available to the police. But 48 hours later the men were back on the scene, Sonja R. is stunned.
“Consider hiring a lawyer”
The property manager, Innsbrucker Immobiliengesellschaft (IIG), was also informed of the abuses, the Tyrolean assures. But nothing happened. “We were told people couldn’t be evicted as long as Social Services paid the rent,” says R., “My neighbors and I are so desperate that we’ll consider requesting rent reduction if the IIG doesn’t do anything. Finally.” “She hopes that through the reporting “someone will do something about the unacceptable conditions. We just want to live in peace.”
Asked by “Krone”, a police spokesman said that although operations do not take place every day, “an accumulation can be observed”.
