“We anticipate a difficult month”

Date:

Morales explained to Radio Euskadi that he believes the company will “close for more days” due to the lack of chips and semiconductors. As a result of this lack of inventories, the company has collected 13,000 incomplete cars today.

Alfredo Morales, de Chairman of the Works Council of Volkswagen Navarraannounced on Radio Euskadi that it provides a difficult autumnbut above all “a very complicated next month”, and that the staff are concerned about the unstable situation of the company.

The factory halted production this Friday due to a lack of parts to produce cars, and the same is expected to happen next week. On the 5th and 9th there will be no production, also due to lack of supply, and the workforce will be in ERTE. Yet Morales believes that the company “will close more days”.

As the Chairman of the Company Committee explained, 13,000 incomplete cars have been collected today. The vast majority of them are in the Landaben factory, but they also had to be sent to some fields in Santander and Iran.

The vehicles leave incomplete for a lack of chips and semiconductors which has deteriorated due to the escalation of tensions between Taiwan and China.

Morales has criticized the fact that Spain has not yet made a clear commitment to meet the needs of the automotive sector.
