A dangerous situation arose in Faistenau (Salzburg) on Friday night. A two-family house caught fire, two brave men managed to extinguish the fire with combined forces.
The cause of the fire is not yet entirely clear, but the battery in a remote-controlled vehicle was probably the cause. The toy was in a stairwell. A 31-year-old woman was awakened by the sound of the fire and immediately grabbed her children (2 and 5 years). The two of them fled to the terrace on the first floor because of the heavy smoke in the house.
At the same time, her 36-year-old husband and 56-year-old father fought the fire and eventually managed to put it out. The fire brigade brought the woman and her children to safety with a ladder. All three escaped unscathed, but were taken to Salzburg State Hospital as a precaution. The 36-year-old suffered minor burns to both hands and was also taken to the regional hospital. The fire brigades of Faistenau, St. Gilgen and Hof were involved in the fire.
