The 19-year-old German who was found burning on a train car at Schärdinger station in Upper Austria on Saturday morning, died late Saturday evening in hospital from his serious injuries.
The 19-year-old German may have become entangled in the power line after climbing onto a parked train car. A resident heard a loud bang or saw a beam of light, whereupon he informed the emergency services. When police arrived at the station, they saw an initially unknown man on the train car.
First aid from the emergency doctor
The notified BB emergency coordinator ensured that the power was turned off in the danger zone. The fire brigade rescued the injured person, who was then treated by the emergency doctor. The 19-year-old’s wallet was found on the train.
The young man was seriously injured and was flown by rescue helicopter to Vienna General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries late Saturday night.
