The 72-year-old got stuck in the mud after more than four kilometers. Cell phones didn’t work. Rather than wait for help, the couple decided to pull their small car behind them to get help. The couple was too weak to walk and stayed in the car to wait for help. With no food or drink and nighttime temperatures around -10 degrees Celsius, the Barkers struggled for days to survive. The 72-year-old has passed away. When rescuers saw Beverly, she was flown in a helicopter to Reno University Hospital. The handicapped only survived because she crawled into a snowfield and got to the water.
