A tragic accident happened on Saturday in the municipality of Krems in Carinthia. A 76-year-old fell with his tractor into a stream bed. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
“Due to a medical emergency, the man left Nöringstrasse with his tractor,” police said. The tractor crashed through a wooden fence, then rolled over a meadow and fell into the adjacent Nöringbach.
Son and fire brigade rushed to help
The driver was thrown from the tractor and remained in the stream bed with life-threatening injuries. The man was rescued from the stream bed by the FF Eisentratten and his son, who is also with the fire brigade. He was flown to the Klagenfurt clinic in a rescue helicopter. As it became known, the pensioner succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital.
