Downwind on Wednesday afternoon was a 29-year-old Austrian with his paraglider. He felt the thermals and got stuck in the ropes of the Gerlossteinbahn in Tyrol. He had to be rescued by emergency services.
Shortly after take-off from the Wiesenalm in Rohrberg, the pilot had bad luck. He flew towards Hainzenberg and wanted to gain height there with the help of the thermals of the wind. However, around 6:15 PM the wind pushed him sideways into the ropes of the Gerlossteinbahn. There he got stuck about 20 meters above the ground.
Witness observed the accident
Help for the man was there immediately: a witness had seen the accident and immediately called the emergency services. “The victim was finally able to be rescued by emergency services and tied up using an evacuation kit with a cable car,” police said. The pilot sustained an abrasion to his chin as a result of the accident.
