Shortly before 4 a.m., a 24-year-old from Tennengauer drove his low-loader towards the city of Salzburg. In a left turn, the driver drove straight ahead and along a sloping embankment before crashing his vehicle head-on into a concrete mast of the catenary.

Mast cracked at anchor
The mast was torn from the tremendous force of the impact of its anchorage, broke at the bottom and fell over the roadway. The man was injured and was taken to hospital. An alcohol test showed a value of 1.16 per mille. Berchtesgadener Strasse was completely closed when the accident was recorded.
